How to be the Strongest Candidate in a Job Search

This 3-hour workshop focuses on the implementation of your strengths in your job search. Following the half-day workshop, participants will continue to collaboratively work together, and meet again later in February. Chris Soucy, ICT coach-in residence and Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, will lead the sessions.
Studying your talents & strengths provides knowledge and understanding of our authentic ‘best’ self; we use our top talents to feel, think, say and do amazing things almost every day. When you think back on your greatest achievements and the moments with the largest positive impact you’ve had over your professional and public life, your strengths were almost certainly playing a crucial role in every success. Using your strengths as a lens, you can analyze job postings to identify positions where you clearly ‘show up’ as a strong candidate in the applicant pool.
This session will help you understand how to use the Gallup reports to fully-developed “accomplishment statements” that are ready to be posted to your LinkedIn profile or inserted into your resume and cover letter. Each of these can be further expanded into quick stories told in networking or robust answers to interview questions. You’ll hear and discuss best practices and tips in using what you produce: why it’s important to have multiple variations for each story, as well as how and when to use each version for the most impact.
