Senior Program Officer, Aging initiatives, Rose Community Foundation
As senior program officer at Rose Community Foundation, Therese Ellery oversees the Foundation’s Aging program area, addressing the needs of low- and moderate-income seniors in the seven-county Greater Denver area.
Ms. Ellery has more than 30 years of professional and volunteer experience with seniors. Her professional background includes nearly a decade at Adult Care Management, Inc. where she first served as care manager and ultimately as director of program and community development. She also worked in outreach for Salt Lake County Aging Services in Utah. From 1991 to 1993, she worked to develop a housing-counseling program for seniors in collaboration with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Additionally, for three years, Ms. Ellery promoted and developed resources and services for the HIV/AIDS population of metro Denver when she served on the Ryan White Funds Distribution Committee at the invitation of the Mayor’s Office of HIV/AIDS Resources. Just prior to joining the Foundation, she owned and operated TimeCentric, a personal and corporate concierge service.
With a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a gerontology certificate from the University of Utah, Ms. Ellery is a member of the American Society on Aging. She served on the national board of Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) and chaired its Membership Committee. She has also served on GIA’s Conference Planning, Program Development and Diversity Committees. Ms. Ellery has been involved with the Douglas County Senior Services Council, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Council, and is a founding member of the Douglas County Colorado TRIAD. In addition, she participated in a 2003 meeting on the National Agenda for the Environment and the Aging through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Aging Initiative, and AARP’s 2004 Mobility Forum to enhance mobility options for people 50+. Ms. Ellery participated as an observer at the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. She is a founding member of the Colorado Aging Dialogue, a group of funders and leaders in aging who meet regularly to learn, maximize resources and address issues facing older Coloradans and their caregivers.
